Wires

India’s wire and cable market has been a determining factor for many countries. It has been among the top-ten wire and cable manufacturers and exporters in global supply.

Over time, India has increased its stake as a provider of cables and wires globally. Today, the country stands as a leading exporter in over five different types of cables, namely: Iron, Steel, Barbed, Insulated, and Aluminum wires. India also exports special categories of molybdenum, nickel, alloys, and fencing wires.

Most of the country’s exports target the United Kingdom, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates. In terms of value, wire and cable production in the country continued to grow at a CAGR of 2.6% between 2012-21. The pace of growth between the timelines was most pronounced during the pre-COVID era, when exports increased by 31% in 2019.

The export cycle has been positive, as wire and cable exports skyrocketed to an estimated $60 billion in 2022. These stats are further said to improve, making India a $260.16 billion wires and cables market between 2021-28.
